New Beginnings
We (officially) launched Asia Wine Review on 28th September, exactly a week ago. We are truly appreciative of everyone who showed up to celebrate this milestone with us.
The launch reminded me of why the wine community is such a special one. Our critics, especially Gerald, Justin Wee, Yang — even without being asked to, very willingly lent a hand when the venue team was too busy to wash and polish glasses in time. Our importers and also many of you reading this email, who helped to open the bottles at the members table and medal's room. And every single one of you who generously shared bottles from your own cellars.
We can plan down to every minute detail, but something will always happen out of the blue. And it is when the chips are down that you truly realise the kind of support you have around you.
In the short span of a week, both my little sister and I had new beginnings. She got married to a wonderful man I now call my brother-in-law, and I properly launched Asia Wine Review. She did not see herself getting married early; I did not see myself launching a new business at this age. New beginnings can be a little scary, but also filled with excitement, as long as we know deep inside that we are in the right place.
And most importantly, surrounded by the right community. On behalf of the entire AWR team, we look forward to building over the next decade and contributing meaningfully to the wine trade across Asia and beyond.
