Editorial
Editorial Policy
Effective date: 30 June 2026 · The Asia Wine Review Pte. Ltd.
1. Independence
The Asia Wine Review maintains strict editorial independence. Scores and tasting notes are determined solely by our panel of critics. No commercial relationship influences our assessments.
2. Blind Tasting Protocol
All wines are evaluated under our two-tier blind tasting protocol:
- Tier I — Style blind: wines are assessed with no information about producer, origin, or vintage. This is our default for all structured tastings.
- Tier II — Origin blind: wines are assessed with the grape variety and/or region known, but producer and vintage concealed. Where a tasting is not fully blind, this is stated on the note.
Exceptions to blind evaluation are rare and always disclosed on the published note.
3. The 100-Point Scale
Our scores use a 100-point scale calibrated for Asian palates, Asian tables, and the Asian market. The scale reflects a wine's quality relative to its category and price tier, not to a global standard built for Western consumption contexts.
Scores are assigned by individual critics and represent their professional judgement at the time of tasting. Scores may be revised if a wine is re-evaluated under a different batch or vintage.
4. Panel and Credentials
All AWR critics are deemed to have knowledge of Asian palate and Asian market. Credentials are published on each critic's profile page. The panel composition is reviewed annually.
5. Corrections and Updates
If we publish an error — whether factual, in a score, or in a tasting note — we will correct it promptly and note the correction on the relevant page. We do not silently alter published content.
To report an error, contact us at hello@theasiawinereview.com.
6. Samples Policy
AWR may receive samples from producers and importers for evaluation. Receipt of a sample does not guarantee a review, and does not influence the score or tone of any note published. Unsolicited samples that do not meet our tasting criteria are not evaluated.
AWR does not charge producers for reviews or listings. AWR collects a small handling fee to alleviate logistics cost.
7. Conflicts of Interest
Critics must disclose any personal or financial relationship with producers or importers. Disclosures are logged internally.
