Asia Wine Review
Lead Critic

Jackie Ang MW

Master of WineFounding Critic

Jackie Ang became a Master of Wine in 2025, one of a small number of MWs based in Asia. He directs Cherwell Wine and Spirits, a WSET APP organisation in Singapore, and leads the High Throughput Screening group at Singapore's national drug discovery platform, the Experimental Drug Development Centre — bringing a scientist's rigour to both disciplines.

He holds a DPhil in Medical Sciences from the University of Oxford and an MA in Pharmacology from the University of Cambridge. His wine work spans over a decade of events, masterclasses, teaching, and judging, with specialist focus on Alsace, Bordeaux, Burgundy, Champagne, and Spain, and deep knowledge of the China and Southeast Asia markets.

His work centres on elevating wine education and service standards across the region, and on building cultural bridges between producers and consumers in Asia.
